While playing hockey, my son took himself out of the game. This is very unusual as he loves to play, and in the recent years has almost lived to play. When the period ended they resurfaced the ICE for the next period. The teams head into the locker room, I recall that he had a headache before the game so I tossed the coach some aspirin to give him while in the locker room. When the team comes back out, my son does not. The goalie, forwards, defense men and coaches... I rescan the ice to see if I unbelievably missed him, I count the players and we are certainly one player short, but also one coach short. The Goalie coach comes out and yells up to me, that my son is in the rest room possibly getting sick!?!? He is old enough that he can be left alone, but not old enough that I want to leave him alone in the condition at this moment. WHO CARES   when it comes to youth hockey, why are we so diligent to keeps such stats, disgusting, these are just kids.

The Wild hockey team played poorly this series, they could not get anything going. I was not able to watch all of the games but I did watch all of last nights game. I think the Wild played alright, but to have a four minute power play and not score at all? They reminded me of Brett Hull in the Olympics a few years back, just wind up and hit the puck as hard as you can. I don't think I recall to many shots that looked as though they were aiming for the corners of the net during that power play. It is really too bad, I really liked this team and thought that they were better then a one win post-season. Kind of seems to be the Minnesota theme lately. Wild out in 5, Gophers lose in the 2 round of the NCAA, the Twins Swept last year by Oakland. What have I learned, is what I already knew, don't stay up and watch those late games when you have to work the next morning.

Game four between the Ducks and the Wild turned a bit nasty the other day. Good thing my thoughts were elsewhere. My son was getting quite upset at how cheap the game got. And he was very upset with Brad May who clocked Kim Johnsson with a sucker punch that has left Kim out for Game Five. I am glad to see that the NHL gave an appropriate suspension to Brad May as hockey does not need to be as dirty as it was when i was a kid. I enjoy the game with the fast players blowing by the slow thugs of the game. well its time to get ready for Game Five, Go Wild, dump those loser Ducks again!!

The Minnesota Wild defeated the Edmonton Oilers last night 3-2 to record a franchise best 100 points on the season. They clinched a playoff birth just last week Tuesday with a loss to the Flames and had been on a short skid ever since. I am very excited about this playoff season as they seem to be one of the hottest teams playing right now. The Wild remain just 3 points behind the Canucks. However with only two games remaining for the Wild it would seem unlikely that they would be able to take the title away from Vancouver. The Canucks have three games remaining as well. so all they are they need to do is gain 2 more points in those the games.

The NCAA Final Four is set, and not a single number one is left playing. You say, what about defending champs, Florida and Ohio St. I never said I was talking about Basket ball. Late yesterday the Minnesota Gophers fell to the North Dakota Fighting Sues! 3-2 in OT. It was not very energetic game for the Gophers, they looked flat and really looked very tired late in the 3rd period and in the OT. North Dakota did have too much energy either but did look to have more then the Gophers. So what is with the tournament rankings? why was North Dakota only a 3? Boston College, seemed to me to be worthy of a higher ranking. Notre Dame, who did they really play anyway?? The only team that they beat in the tournament was a team with a losing record!! Well the WCHA has owned this tournament up until this year... or does North Dakota have what it takes? I think that any team with T.J. Oshie on it has a shot, I really enjoy watching him play.
