Concussions from 60 minutes.

Back in 2007 I wrote about concussions and that Parents need to know what it is that they are dealing with. 60 Minutes did some new segments on football and concussions. A blow to the brain, where they discuss the recent concussion to Tim Tebow , and how concussions forced Steve Young , Troy Aikman to retire. And they have examined the brain of former Viking Wally Hilgenberg one of my all time favorites. Watch CBS News Videos Online What parents need to know, Dr. Andrew Tucker talked about youth and concussions. Reports are that young people that injure the brain, the risks of future permanent problems increase. Watch CBS News Videos Online Thats Football, Kyle Turley reports that he suffers depression and believes that it may be due to the Concussions that he had gotten. Watch CBS News Videos Online Thank you 60 minutes for helping keep this in front of American parents.

Football Officiating

Football officiating seems to get worse and worse each year. I think that they should do away with the instant replay altogether. In the last several games I have watched I have seen some bizarre stuff. I see a running back run hard and push the defender back trying to reach out for the first down, the whistle blows and the office comes running from five yards back (behind the play) and turns a 90 degree turn to mark the ball. Official marks it short. (like he could precisely see where the ball was when the run was stopped or forward progress). Then the part that really gets me. The go to the far side line (it is always the far sideline isn't it?) Where they carefully mark the spot on the chain that matches to the blade of grass that is closest to the nearest line marker. Three big zebras run the chain set over to the ball, where they now line that marked chain back up to the line marker (lets hope that it is perfectly straight). I have yet to see a protractor to be out there to ma...

Fantasy Football Playoffs

Most all Fantasy Football leagues are starting or into the playoffs. For me personally it has been a strange year. It has been a tale of two leagues. League one: RB heavy league, and I have Willis McGehee, Larry Johnson, Ryan Grant, Marshawn Lynch. Injuries and playing time have been played out well between these four, I really don't feel that I have started the wrong guy or did not have enough guys available to play. WR: Marquez Colston, Wes Welker, Calvin Johnson and Anquin Boldin. Again not too back, Welker was a nice surprise and did burn me a few weeks when he was not the guy of the week, but I think I knew that was a possibility for this team. Only when one of the others on my bench out performed the others. TE Dallas Clark IND, Great pick, the tenth TE picked in this league and a top five performer. K Jason Elam and Matt Stover, both should have been solid picks, I messed these guys up more then I got them right, Starting the one that got just one extra point while the other...

Monday Night Football, what a game

It has been a long time since I have been that interested in Monday night game that had nothing going for it. The Ravens played well enough to win and made three crucial mistakes that cost them the game. Sound familiar? it should it was not that long ago that the colt played well enough to beat the patriots and made three crucial mistakes late in the game to lose it. I am still wondering what Coach Billick was thinking calling the timeout on fourth and 1. There were at least two other mistakes that cost them the game. The interception that Boller threw with absolutely no Raven in the area. The multiple penlties on the game winning drive, whether it be Number 57 of the Ravens or the ref, just flat out cheating, your choice.

Did you see that Game last night, WOW what an awesome game Cowboys crush the Packers

Yea, neither did I this was perhaps the most anticipated game in the last 20 years and the NFL Network ruined it for more football fans. Well I say screw them. Once again they have proven the only play for the almighty $, what a bunch of big jerks. Personally I have lost most of my interest in the NFL as a whole do to the selfishness that they have presented in the last 10-20 years. I think we are due for a Strike or Lockout that will cancel the Super Bowl in the upcoming years. The NFL is the only league that has the stupid blackout rule, so they hold the home town hostage while they overcharge ($75 or more usually) for one of the most uncomfortable chairs in the world. Once you are there you are treated to a game that is filled with unnecessary stoppage in play. TV Timeouts, Reviews of instant replays due to the fact that the NFL won't hire a full time officiating crew, so they make more the average number of mistakes and doing so they know that they have an out, they have a repl...

Fantasy Football is Crazy

The first two weeks of the season is when you learn how to win your league. Week three is critical, hopefully you have won at least one game by now. if not the season is not over. 20 years ago, I lost my first three, and then went on to win a playoff spot and eventually win the Superbowl. that was the last strike year, it almost broke out newly formed league. What happens is that the first two weeks tell you where your Draft strategy went wrong, and where you are right. Lots of the other guys are going to be telling you that you need to try and make a trade, try and get someone you think will be doing good the second half of the season (ONLY TWO GAMES? WHATS all the talk about 2nd half). and make a low ball offer to get said goods for cheap! Sound wonderful, if you think you got someone in your league that will go for that fine, do it. The leagues that I play in are probably more realistic, in that nobody is going to trade Larry Johnson, Steven Jackson, for some wide receiver that you ...

League A Draft Results

My team Holdovers: LT and Ronnie Brown When my first round pick came up, I was going to take Reggie Wayne as I saw it, he would be the best available player on the board. As I had two RB already, I was looking to get a TOP WR. I always script the first round and into the second round up to my Second Pick. Here is what I scripted and the second name is who they actually took Pick Team Scripted Pick Selected Player 1 One Manning or Jackson Jackson (I heard late that he was going with Jackson) 2 Two Jackson or Manning Manning (Last year She picked Maroney with the 5th over all pick, so I have no Idea how she drafts, except that I knew she could not pass on Manning. 3 Three Larry Johnson he created a draft list for the computer to draft from. and has been out of town for some time, so he could not chance anything else here, (I nailed this one) 4 I slated him for Adrian Peterson, as he is a big Viking fan and has been ...

Fantasy Football Drafts

I have my Fantasy football league drafts tonight. I will update the site with Details on who each team selects as the night goes on. In League A I have the 12th pick of 14. (with 2 player restricted holdover) The two Player restriction is that you can hold over any two players from last year and one additional year, so you can have someone for a total of three years MAX. or you can holdover anyone knew each year. I was fortunate enough to play poor enough to earn a spot in the six team Toilet bowl (I was one win short of making the playoffs) and then I won the toilet bowl which in turned earned me the right to the first pick of the draft, I chose LaDanian Tomlinson. That was two years ago, so this is the last time I get to hold him over. My second holdover is Ronnie Brown, it was a tough choice, and when the deadline was near, there was no talk of him sharing carries with Chatman. So with my twelfth pick, I think that Reggie Wayne will be available and I will take him, unless somethin...
