Cisco FWSM Console
Cisco's FWSM, a firewall blade that goes into a Cisco 6500 switch.
The Console connection is located on the board inside of the slot. Sometimes you need to have this connection to provide Cisco TAC information when troubleshooting. You also can see log messages that you may not see session'ed into the device.
It was also helpful when the device was locking or freezing up in such a way that the SSH connections were frozen too. the connection to the console of the FWSM was very handy then.
From this console you can also change to any context and the system rather freely, just as you can from traditional SSH session.
So remember to connect up the console before you need it, as it is impossible to connect while in production with out shutting the device down to back the Module out of the chassis.
